Is your checking account covered for unexpected emergencies?
Even the most diligent record keeper can occasionally run into unanticipated situations that cause their checking account to exceed available funds. When you need an important transaction or payment to process but don’t have the funds in your account to cover the amount, avoid the embarrassment and expense of it being rejected by having Overdraft Privilege on your account*.
Overdraft Privilege is offered on all eligible checking accounts and is designed to pay checks, ACH and recurring debit transactions that would otherwise be rejected for insufficient funds. There is no cost to have Overdraft Privilege on your account and you will only be charged a $35 fee per item if the service is used. You can read more by viewing our Discretionary Overdraft Privilege Disclosure.
To fit your specific needs, there are two levels of Overdraft Privilege that can be added to your consumer or business checking account:
Standard
Our basic coverage is automatically added to all eligible accounts in good standing and covers check, ACH and recurring debit card transactions such as pre-authorized withdrawals and Bill Payments. Late mortgage or credit card payments caused by non-sufficient funds could affect your credit history, but having Overdraft Privilege on your account could cover you in these instances and save you the stress, related fees and long-term damage to your credit.
Complete
Our fully loaded level of Overdraft Privilege begins with Standard coverage and goes beyond to include ATM and everyday debit card transactions. This extended coverage could come in handy when you’re at the grocery store or gas station and have less than sufficient funds in your account. To add Overdraft Privilege coverage on your checking account to include ATM and everyday debit card transactions, you’ll just have to let us know you want it (opt-in to receive it), by simply:
- Giving us a call at 1.855.TRUWEST (878.9378)
- Logging into your Online Banking account and complete a Secured Form, or
-
Printing the coverage request and stopping by one of our branch locations to drop off or mail to us at:
TruWest Credit Union
Attn: Deposit Services
PO Box 3489
Scottsdale, AZ 85271
When the unexpected need arises, Overdraft Privilege is the safety net that gives you peace of mind that your important transactions will be covered. There is no cost to add it to your accounts and you may never use it, but in the event you need it, you’ll be glad you have it.
* Please be aware that having overdraft Privilege on your checking account does not constitute either a written agreement of an obligation or a prearranged
agreement for TruWest to pay your overdrafts and we may withdraw this privilege at any time. Payment of any overdrafts will continue to be at the
discretion of TruWest and payment of an overdraft does not obligate us or create an agreement or course of dealing on our part to allow overdrafts
on any occasion. Overdraft Privilege amounts must be promptly brought current (to zero or a positive balance), no later than 30 days from the overdrawn occurrence.
