12 LEARN ABOUT CREDIT CARDS AND APR You’ve seen it on your credit card statement, heard it disclosed in advertising and likely noticed it trailing after numbers on posters. It’s APR (Annual Percentage Rate) and here’s the scoop: What Does APR Mean? APR is the annual percentage rate of interest a credit card holder will be charged on all or a portion of the balance, if the full amount isn’t paid by the due date. And remember, APR is interest, not fees. Why Might I See Multiple APRs? A single credit card may have several APRs based on specific promotions, different types of transactions or the terms of your account. For example: • Purchase APR: Applied to the remaining balance from credit card purchases • Cash Advance APR: Cost of withdrawing cash • Penalty APR: Applied if you violate terms (e.g., late payments) • Introductory APR: Often promotional, this lower rate applies for a limited time Maximize Your Purchase Power with a Low APR!
